Voice Post: 4th of July Party

482K 2:30
“Hello, LiveJournal-land. I'm at a... kind of one of those complicated work-friend relationship things. Um... A guy that I do alot of work for his department for. I'm at a 4th of July party that he's throwin'. Uh... He lives in the same town I do. You can hear the fireworks in the background. Um... I don't know if any of you in LiveJournal-land have seen the movie "Avalon." Uh, it's a, um... It's a movie that uh... Elijah Wood got his start in. It's uh... It's really good movie. I really don't know how to describe it other than that. It's like one of those immigrant experience movies, and it's... it's a really good one. The opening scene of that is the immigrant coming to this country to meet his brothers, and he's in Baltimore, and it's the 4th of July, and there's just this tremendous fireworks celebration going on, and um... that's kinda how it feels here. Uh... Lots of fireworks, lots of camraderie. Uh... My friend/manager, Kevin, hired a (news? juice?) band. They're playin' out in front right now. I'm out in back of the house. And it's just, um... It's one of those fun things where you wouldn't really expect to have as much fun at it as you're havin', but you're just kind of grooving and diggin' the whole uh... the camraderie, and the friendship, and the, you know, watching the families having fun and watching the couples without kids just sort of being all schmoopy, and it's just one of those things. And uh... you know, I'm single and I'm slightly bitter about it, but, um... It's at where even the most cynical person is uh... is having fun, because they know that things can't be as bad as they seem. You know? So, uh... For all intents and purposes, it's the 4th of July weekend, as much as it can be, since the 4th of July falls on a WEDNESDAY this year. What the Hell is THAT? It's just uh... Happy 4th of July to LiveJournal, even though it's still June the 30th. And Happy Birthday to my cousin, Laura, who I've been a total shit about, and haven't called her and wished her a Happy Birthday, so I should probably do that now. And I'll talk to you later. Bye.”
