hugh laurie my word

(no subject)

So this is things stand right now, it looks as though after we fly in to Florida on Monday, Tuesday and part of Wednesday might be spent riding out a tropical storm/category 1 hurricane.

Right now it's still way to early to tell exactly where this thing is gonna go, but models right now suggest it may skirt the Gulf coast of FL, so Orlando may not be hit too hard.

Here's hoping.
pissy snape

An open note to Congressional Democrats.

Offshore drilling will do nothing to make us more energy independent, and certainly nothing to lower gas prices. Everybody with half a brain in their heads knows this. What you're doing is going along with the petrochemical equivalent of the TSA's Security Theatre; It doesn't do a damned thing to help, but it give the impression that you take matters seriously. However, it really does nothing to hinder what it's ostensibly protecting against.

You wanna make us more energy independent? Take away breaks for the petroleum industry, invest in green energy infrastructure, and force Detroit to become more competitive on the world market with higher fuel economy standards. Don't take no for an answer, and don't give in to the inevitable whinging that will erupt when you tell people in power that they've been doing a shitty job and that if they don't do better, they'll be first against the wall when the revolution comes. People don't like being held accountable for their failings, which is why the Republicans have been busy blaming you for everything they fucked up for the last 16 years.
