Today I've got to run around like a chicken with its head cut off getting everything set to go for my vacation...I've gotta help bathe the dog, clean up the rabbit room, finish packing, and make sure we're not forgetting anything. My plane leaves at 7am tomorrow, so I'll be up early to make it down there in time. I may try to post by phone once or twice, but otherwise I'll probably be incommunicado. The good news is that my cell phone bill resets itself today, so I've got my full allotment of 250 text messages. If you're friends with me here on LJ, I believe you can text me through my info page.
See you guys next week!
On the one hand, I'm very stoked, and my brain is currently serenading itself with a hearty rendition of the long defunct song "Oh, There's No Place Like World Showcase." Fun.
On the other hand, mom's losing it...sometimes I think she'd forget her head if it weren't firmly affixed to her neck.
And now, I'm off to Costco to procure delicious romaine for Kiwi and Lily Bunnies.
I just got a mosquito bite on my forehead. Dead center.
I hate mosquitoes...I need a bat house in my back yard.
NaNa NaNa NaNa NaNa NaNa NaNa NaNa NaNa Bat house!
So, forgot to mention that Saturday the 16th was National Rum Day...so I procured a bottle of Gosling's Black Seal Rum...THE rum for making the quintessential Dark and Stormy...rum plus high quality ginger beer. Plus a scoche of lime and/or bitters if you want it.
And of course, I'm drinking it as Tropical Storm Fay decides whether or not she want's to clobber Florida, the night before I'm flying down there...It strikes me as a bit "Nero fiddles as Rome burns" but, who cares, it's rum, and all the projections show that Fay, if she even makes it to hurricane status, will most likely be a Category 1 at best...now, after Katrina, I'm not quite ready to dare the hurricane to do its worst, but based on my extensive meteorological knowledge from my Weather and Climatology class in college, plus my Weather merit badge, I don't think Fay has the capability to be TOO horrible...it's gonna suck for a lot of people sure, but I don't think we're going to lose another city. That being said, I'm hoping for the best, and sending any good karma I've accrued in life down to the Florida Peninsula, and not just because I'm going to be there in 15 hours...
All this has been a very verbose way of leading up to my statement that this is really and truly most likely going to be my last entry (barring phone posts) until I return on Tuesday the 26th. Toodle pip!
