emotionlly overwhelmed right now...
I just want to say this...it's been said many times before, but it's particularly apropos now, and bears repeating.

If you're not pissed off, you're not paying attention!

I'm at the point where I feel like the Bush administration, from the top down, deserves to be crucified (and by God, the press is finally on the scent!) for their inaction. As the editor of "Editor and Publisher" said, "This is not mere incompetence, but dereliction of duty."

Could we throw in LA Govenor and Mayor of N.O and FEMA head. and all of the developers who drained and filled the bayous and swamps?

you betcha, them too.

From everything I've read, failure was systemic, from the mayor to the governor to the head of FEMA (who used to head an Arabian Horse Association, fer crissakes!) to the preznit who strummed his guitar and staged Potemkin photo ops while the citizens of NOLA drowned, everyone is culpable, and no one is forgivable.

So I just read that all of the animals at the zoo survived, except for two otters (? aren't they good swimmers?) and a disoriented flamingo who seemed to be getting better(? and they could tell this how?) One gator, it seems, escaped but zoo officials are sure he'll return (how could they be sure it was their gator and not some shrewd imposter?) But all this good news happened because zoo was built on HIGH GROUND, what a concept. $100 to any politician who stands up and says, "I screwed up and people died and I will work my whole life to make sure nothing like this ever happens again." and I'm part of the working poor.
